So, instead of saying/writing:
'Well, I had a very nice weekend because the weather was good although the food my friend cooked was bad but then she said how much she liked my big One Direction poster which made me laugh.'
You could also say/write:
"Well, I had a lovely weekend because the weather was excellent although the food my friend cooked was afwul but then she remarked how much she admires my gigantic One Direction poster which made me giggle.'
Sounds terrific, don't you think?
